I stumbled across this little article while doing research for a project, and I have to say the subject has crossed my mind before. I’ve often thought that the Titanic wasn’t as great as everyone makes it out to be because it didn’t have WiFi. You’re not going to get 3G, 4G, or even Edge service out there in the middle of the Atlantic (and the roaming fees? Forget about it), so how did they expect people to update Facebook statuses and watch YouTube videos? There could have been mad foursquare check-ins, as well: “Kate Winslet is in the cargo hold steaming up windows with Howard Hughes,” etc. I don’t know if it would have saved lives, MSNBC, but it certainly would have made the trip more interesting.
